Snow day, good guy
National holiday. Took Ton to school in the morning, raining. Mo off from school so went with him and P to Shibuya for lunch and shopping. Started snowing.
Just finished lunch, get a text from school: school closing early due to snow. Try to get a taxi to go pick up Ton, huge line and no cars. Get on the bus instead. Stopped half way up the road because traffic is stopped. So I jump off and run up the street to get Ton. Meanwhile bus starts moving, gets to the bus stop just as I get there, too.
P and Mo walk home, I go get Ton. She is loving the snow, and we take forever to get home. But we still beat P and Mo. So we head back downstairs to clean the snow off the stairs. Neighbors across the street and others up the street are playing and enjoying the snow.
We live on a nice hill, and down the street a new Mercedes is spinning his wheels, failing to get up the hill. The neighbor and I go down and push him down the street, after explaining that he needs to put it in reverse and straighten the wheels and not ride the breaks and maybe even push the button on the dash the puts it into snow mode. He is finally on his way, and then we see a taxi half way up the hill, also spinning his wheels. More pushing, more telling him to put it in REVERSE so we aren't actually pushing against the engine, and we get him turned and on his way.
We walk back down, and get passed by another taxi heading up the hill. Neighbor and I look at each other with the not-again face. As predicted, it gets half way up, slides down, stops. Backs up again, but no reverse lights, break lights on. Not good. More wheel spinning. More drifting. Stops again. And an old lady gets out, starts walking up the hill.
An old lady? Are you kidding me?!
S I run up the hill and help her walk up. "You ok?" I ask. "No." She answers.
So I walk her all the way up the hill and around the corner to her house.
Wen I finally get back home, Ton is still trying to sweep the snow from the front steps and make little snowmen, but she is obviously cold and tired. I am soaked, freezing, and tired. Time to go inside, dry off, and warm up.
Did enough good deeds for the week!
