new year's

Spent a couple days back at the homestead in Ibaraki for New Year's.
It was of course freezing cold; colder inside the house than outside (outside there is sunlight.)
Spent most of the time buried under the kotatsu, eating and watching bad television.
And eating. And eating.
Went over to the Big House (honke) and the Third House (sanshitsu) and played with Hanachan, who is a year older than Tonchan.
Also played with Jiji a bunch, said hello to dead Jiisan a number of times (she liked putting out the incense candle and ringing the bell), and ate a bunch of cookies, sweets, crackers, and snacks.
