post-hospital icecream, on the bike, in the rain

post-hospital icecream, on the bike, in the rain

P called me about 2pm to come home and take Ton to the hospital as her fever was 39.6 C. Rushed home and put Ton on the bike. At the hospital, we were given Extra Special treatment thanks to swine flu, so we got put into our own room immediately to wait for the doc. Ton was hot and groggy and kind of fell asleep for a bit, but as soon as the doctor came in she woke up and did not enjoy one bit having her ears checked or getting a throat culture taken.
Doc said her throat was very red, but test came back negative for strep, so most likely an adino-virus.
Got a prescription for fever medicine and told that if she gets worse, especially if she starts coughing and/or puking, get her back to the hospital asap.
When we left it was kind of drizzly so I wrapped a towel around Ton's head, which she enjoyed immensely, and we got some mint chip ice cream before filling her prescription and pedaling home.
(And thanks to the joys of Japanese socialized medicine, the entire thing from check-up to prepscription drugs cost exactly zero.)
At home Ton was none too thrilled to be force-fed fever medicine but calmed down a bit later and even got quite perky.
Everyone went to bed soon after dinner, just as Baba was showing up.

sounds like a classic bug...
just keep the fever down and give her mint chocolate ice cream. dont worry about making her eat... just drink plenty... you too!

I think it will help if YOU wear a towel too.
